Josefina Holmlund

Josefina Holmlund, born February 21, 1827 in Stockholm, died in 1905, was a Swedish artist. She is known for her landscape paintings influenced by the Düsseldorf school.

During the 1850s, she studied to become a painter in Stockholm. She developed her landscape painting through the study of Tore Billing and at the Art Academy of Edvard Bergh. In 1863 she went to Düsseldorf where she lived with her sister Jeanette who was also an artist and her husband, the Norwegian landscape painter Nils Björnsson Möller. She was inspired by his paintings, he in turn was inspired by Nils Gude. She made ??several trips to Norway and Scandinavia. In her works are landscapes from countries including Sweden, Norway, Finland and Holland. Her style was influenced by the Dusseldorf School.
Josefina Holmlund never married.
