Frederik Kraft

Frederik Carl Julius Kraft was a Danish landscape painter.

Kraft was officially the son of Adam Gottlob Severin Kraft and Sophie Frederikke Tronier, but was in reality one of King Christian VIII's illegitimate children together with Sophie Frederikke Tronier.

Kraft should have been a merchant, but his desire for art prevailed, and in 1838 he was admitted to the Academy of Fine Arts. In 1847 he competed for the Neuhausen Prize, but did not win the prize. He came to Rome at the end of 1851, and it seems that the study of Italian nature made the most beneficial effect on the development of his talent.

Kraft is buried at Lyngby Cemetery.
