Ernest Clair-Guyot born Victorin Clair Ernest Guyot was a French painter, illustrator, lithographer and photographer.

He was the father of the photographer Jean Clair-Guyot.
Ernest Clair-Guyot was only 17 years old when he debuted at the Salon of 1873 where he exhibited a painting, then entered the Paris School of Fine Arts where he obtained the anatomy prize.
He first worked at the Gien earthenware factory. In 1883, he was recruited as a contributor to the newspaper L'Illustration where he pursued a long career, making the transition from illustration by engraving to photo-engraving.
