André Caza

André Cazaumayou, known as André Caza or simply Caza, was a French journalist, cartoonist, coach, and athlete, born in Dax (Landes) on October 30, 1911, and died on December 14, 2003, in Passy (Haute-Savoie).

A journalist and cartoonist for L'Auto and then L'Équipe, he was also a competitive diver and alpine skier in the veteran category, as well as a diving coach. He also created two tourist resorts in Haute-Savoie: the Bernex ski resort (1950) and the summer resort with the La Beunaz lake beach in Saint-Paul-en-Chablais (1951).

He was from the Basque-Béarnais region, the son of Alfred Cazaumayou, a pharmacist in Dax, and Lucie Barnetche, the fourth of nine children. In addition to the pseudonym André Caza, he also used the pseudonym André Cazade.
