Franz Xaver Reinhold was a veduta and landscape painter working in Vienna, son of the painter, etcher and lithographer Friedrich Philipp Reinhold (1779-1840) and brother of the painter and lithographer Karl Reinhold (1820-1887).

From 1830 to 1840 Reinhold studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna with Thomas Ender (1793-1875), Joseph Mössmer (1780-1845) and Franz Steinfeld (1787-1868).

Reinhold traveled through Alpine countries from 1834, sometimes accompanied by Friedrich Gauermann, in 1844 he visited Italy. He mainly painted forest and mountain landscapes, as well as folk and hunting scenes. Many of his works ended up in the collections of the Bohemian noble families of Waldstein and Lobkowitz.
