Bodo Zimmermann

German, 1902-1945
Follow

Bodo Zimmermann, also known as BOZI, was a German illustrator, painter, and woodcut artist.

Bodo Zimmermann, son of Royal District School Inspector Paul Zimmermann and grandson of landscape painter Emil Zschimmer, trained at the Royal School of Art and Applied Arts in Breslau and worked as an illustrator, draftsman, and woodcut artist in his studio in Breslau from 1922 onwards.

His motifs deal with the Kłodzko Mountains, the Giant Mountains, and views of the Main and Tauber regions.

As a result of the siege and occupation, the majority of his works were lost. After his capture as a prisoner of war on May 7, 1945, during the defense of Breslau, he died on the return transport.
