The German-Austrian landscape and marine painter, Josef Carl Berthold Püttner worked mainly in Vienna, and later in Bad Vöslau. Study trips took him to Rome, the Netherlands, Iceland as well as North and South America.
Püttner was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and exhibited regularly at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. His works can be seen in the Military History Museum in Vienna and the German Historical Museum in Berlin.
