German painter, also active in Switzerland and the northern Netherlands. He is recorded as having worked in Berne for three years, beginning c. 1620. Afterwards he seems to have travelled throughout Europe, appearing in Basle in 1621 and again in 1628. In 1631 he was active in Cologne and in 1632 in The Hague, where he was highly esteemed as a fashionable portrait painter.
