He also used the pseudonyms Georges Manoir and Maurice Manoir to sign his literary and theatrical works.
Maurice George-Élie Lalau was born on July 27, 1881, in Paris's 9th arrondissement.
He became a student of Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant.
He illustrated newspapers such as L'Illustration and Lectures pour tous, but also worked with the Bibliophiles de France and publishers F. Ferroud and Jules Meynial.
He developed a color printing process used to illustrate Quinze joyes du mariage (Fifteen Joys of Marriage) published by Meynial.
He was a member of the artistic and literary society Le Cornet (founded in 1896).
Maurice Lalau died in Paris's 16th arrondissement on April 14, 1961.
