August Mauritius Seidel was a German landscape painter and brother of the painter Franz Seidel (1818-1903).
Seidel studied from November 2, 1836 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich and privately with Carl Rottmann. After graduating, he worked as a landscape painter in Munich. From 1838 he was a member of the Munich Artists' Association. In 1845 he went on a study trip to Italy, in 1863 he visited Paris.
The influence of John Constable and the Barbizon School can be seen in his paintings. His works can be found in the collections of the Neue Pinakothek .
Seidel's grave is located in Munich's Ostfriedhof (grave 44-2-25).
