Bartholomaus Ignaz Weiss was a German Painter.
From 1764 onwards Bartholomäus Ignaz Weiss was a porcelain painter at the Kurfürstliche Manufacture Nymphenburg. In 1770 he became a member of the newly erected Munich Academy. Soon afterwards he was appointed Electoral Court Miniaturist, in whose function he carried out several portraits of members of the Bavarian court. Apart from miniatures he carried out oil paintings and numerous etching in the style of Rembrandt, which he conceived himself or executed after models by famous masters. Weiss also owned a large volume of drawings by Johann Andreas Wolff, who decisively influenced his style; weiss also received significant inspirations from Johann Georg Asam.
