Martín León Boneo Cabello was an Argentine painter.
In 1845 he began his artistic studies with Juan Camaña at the Colegio Republicano Federal. In 1852 he began to teach drawing at the Colegio del Seminario, where his disciple was Pastor Obligado. Years later he occupied the artistic teaching position at the University of Buenos Aires.
In 1857 he traveled to Italy to study with Antonio Ciseri. He returned to Buenos Aires in 1864 and in 1865 he moved to Chile.
Boneo recorded typical images of daily life, still lifes and religious scenes, and also showed a particular interest in the subject of immigration. Linked to the police force as an employee of the institution, he designed the rooster that serves as the emblem of the Argentine Federal Police. He also painted the coat of arms of the University of Buenos Aires.
