He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts with H. Tichy and R. Bacher. After temporary work as a drawing teacher at a Viennese school he taught at various adult education centers. He also ran his own painting school for some time. He married his Student Josefine Novacek in 1927.
In addition to portraits, landscapes and animal studies in oil and watercolor, he also created numerous pencil, chalk and red chalk drawings as well as drafts for stained glass and frescoes.
