He was born on September 13, 1863 in Prague and died on July 12, 1928 in Vienna.

He began painting at the age of fourteen as H. Ullik's assistant in painting decorations for Czech theater stages. In the years 1887-92 he worked in Vienna, in the workshop of the court painter of theater decorations JV Kautsky, and at the same time he studied at the Vienna Academy in the landscape school E. Lichtenfels.

He was an exceptionally gifted student, in 1890 he won the Füger Prize and later the Koch and Rosenbaum Prizes. He has regularly exhibited his works in Prague, Vienna, and since 1900 also in Paris, Berlin, Munich, Amsterdam and St. Petersburg. Louis in the USA. He was a member of ČAVU (since 1912), Prague's Mánes and UB Slovenské (since 1922). In 1906, however, he also traveled to Subcarpathian Russia. He showed his greatest mastery in capturing panoramic shots of urban architecture and sacred interiors of Prague, Vienna and Bratislava.
