
Known as Captain Walter William May he was a marine painter in watercolours painting coastal scenes in England, France and Holland. After his retirement from the navy he devoted himself to painting, and was a member of the Institute of painters in Water-colours. An example of his work is held at the Norwich Museum. Exhibited a number of works at the NWS, RA, and RBA.
