Adolf Müller-Cassel painted landscapes, coastal scenes in Europe, figures and vibrant cityscapes. The painter was born in Kassel in 1864. There he attended the art academy from 1883 to 1886 and then enrolled at the Düsseldorf academy. He also traveled to Italy and Rome (1888), Spain, the Netherlands and England, and painted in Paris (1909). After his marriage to a wealthy heiress, Müller-Cassel moved to Berlin, where the work of this jovial and cheerful artist became very popular with the German upper class.
