Johann Christian Klengel

Johann Christian Klengel was a German etcher and painter.

Klengel attended the drawing school in Dresden. His teacher was Christian Wilhelm Ernst Dietrich. In 1790 he went to Italy and in 1802 became a professor at the Dresden Art Academy. One of his students was Karl Gottfried Traugott Faber.

He painted landscapes and idyllic compositions, mostly in the morning or evening light. In 1812 he published a collection of twelve folio sheets for landscape artists under the label "Principes de dessins pour les paysages" and in 1824 a similar number of original sheets , now known as "Études de paysages"
