Charles Rivière was a French painter born in Orléans on October 12, 1848 and died in the 11th arrondissement of Paris on January 18, 1920.
From 1903, Charles Rivière, a friend of Germain David-Nillet, stayed several times at Le Faouët (Morbihan). He mainly painted rural scenes, religious buildings, traditional trades, etc. He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français.
His name has been given to a secondary school in Olivet (Loiret).
