Susanne Renate Granitsch was born in Vienna as the daughter of lawyer Georg Granitsch and Augusta Antonia Granitsch, née Panstingel. From 1885 she studied at the Vienna School of Applied Arts with Ludwig Minnigerode and Karl Hrachowina and from 1887 with Karl Karger.Her focus was mainly on genre and portrait painting.
