The Artist died in 1884 so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries where the copyright term is the Artist's life plus 70 years or fewer.

Jean-Baptiste Van Moer was a Belgian artist who was mainly known for his representations of old Brussels.

He travelled extensively in Europe, painting landscapes and well known buildings and street scenes. Many of his works were painted in France and Italy.

One of his pictures hangs on the stairs of the Palais Royale and another in the hotel de Ville in Brussels. His works can also be found in the museums of Amiens and Brussels.
