A student at the Yale School of Art, the Art Students League and L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Paris, Ozias Dodge became the third Director of the Norwich Art School, from 1897 to 1910. He attained this post through a family friend of his wife, Hannah Sprague. The Dodges moved into a house at 8 Mediterranean Lane, where other Academy faculty lived. After Ozias Dodge left his academic position for a full time art career, he transformed the house at 12 Mediterranean Lane into his studio where he developed innovative techniques in etching. He died unexpectedly in 1925.
