Georges Hugo was a French painter, and the son of Charles Hugo and grandson of Victor Hugo
Son of Charles Hugo, Victor's first son, and his wife Alice Lehaene, he was born after the death of couple's first child, also baptized Georges from meningitis in his first year. At the age of 3, he lost his father and was brought up by his grandfather Victor.
He studied painting at Lycée Janson-de-Sailly alongside the painter Ernest Ange Duez.
