The Artist died in 1914 so this work is in the public domain in its country of origin and other countries where the copyright term is the Artist's life plus 70 years or fewer.

Ole Christoffer Thorkelsen was a Norwegian painter and draughtsman. He is best known for his caricatures of famous people, but also produced landscape paintings and decorative works.

Thorkelsen decorated the shop Brødrene Hallén, in Øvre Slottsgate in Oslo, with murals signed O. C. Thorkelsen 1896. He was also responsible for decorations for the artists' carnivals at the Grand Hotel in 1908, 1910 and 1913.

Thorkelsen is buried at Vår Frelsers gravlund in Oslo.
