Louis George Eleonor Roy was a French painter and engraver and professional printer. He taught drawing at the Lycée Michelet in Vanves, as well as the Lycée Voltaire and Lycée Buffon in Paris. Through his teaching, Roy met Paul Gauguin and Emile Bernard. He became a friend of Gauguin, who invited him to participate in the Exhibition of the Impressionists and painters Synthetists Volpini coffee in 1889.
Roy was also hired by Gauguin to pull impressions off Gauguins Noa Noa woodcuts for an alternative look to Gauguins’ own earlier prints.
