Knud Sinding was born in Aarhaus, Denmark in 1875. He studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen under the artist Kristian Zarthmann (1843-1917). His study trips were mainly to Italy, which heavily influenced the style of his painting. His colour pallet however was more inspired by the local Danish art. He lived and worked in Copenhagen until his death in 1946.
