Georges Hugo

Georges Hugo was a French painter, and the son of Charles Hugo and grandson of Victor Hugo
Son of Charles Hugo, Victor's first son, and his wife Alice Lehaene, he was born after the death of couple's first child, also baptized Georges from meningitis in his first year. At the age of 3, he lost his father and was brought up by his grandfather Victor.

He studied painting at Lycée Janson-de-Sailly alongside the painter Ernest Ange Duez. He was a sailor for three years in the navy and published in 1896 a collection of memories on this subject, then, during the war of 1914-1918, he enlisted and took the opportunity to draw trench scenes that would be exhibited. at the Museum of Decorative Arts .
He married Pauline Ménard-Dorian in 1894 in Paris and is the father of Jean Hugo who would also have a career as a painter. Georges Hugo died of pulmonary congestion in Paris.
