Brissot de Warville is known for his paintings and drawings of rustic scenes with sheep and cattle. He was the Director of the Musée du Château de Compiègne and a prolific artist. His paintings are found in many museum collections including the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and museums in Chartres, Amiens, Mulhouse, Reims, Rouen, Saint-Étienne, Sens, Strasbourg and Troyes. The most extensive collection of his work is in the museum in Compiègne.
