Johannes August Fischer was a Danish landscape and architecture painter, brother of the famous Paul Fischer .
Fischer was the son of painter, later master painter and varnish manufacturer Philip August Fischer (1817—1907) and Gustafva Albertina Svedgren (1827—83). Married to Adolphine Sophie Laursen, born 3 November 1889 in Tange, Lysgård Herred. After a year and a half of apprenticeship with a sculptor, he applied to the Academy of Fine Arts , where he began his education in October 1869. However, he decided to become a painter and became so in March 1874. The same year he made his debut at Charlottenborg, where he exhibited to 1922. Fischer traveled like other artists a lot, first in 1881. For Academy scholarships he stayed in Spain and Italy in 1883 and 1884. Since then he traveled inSouthern Germany and Italy and sought in particular his motifs in old German and Italian cities. Several of his paintings are from Nuremberg and Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Venice and Florence .
