Russell, Morgan & Co., a Cincinnati firm, was founded in 1867 when A.O. Russell and Robert J. Morgan purchased the printing section of The Cincinnati Enquirer with financial backing from the showman John Robinson. In 1891, the company became United States Printing Company and later United States Lithograph Company. Along with printing for the entertainment industry, the company manufactured playing cards. By 1894, the playing card business had become so large that it was separated from the printing company, becoming The United States Playing Card Company. Still in existence, it is the largest manufacturer of playing cards in the world, making such brands as Bee, Bicycle, Hoyle and Aviator.
