The Austrian painter Carl Duxa was a son of the portrait and genre painter Alois Duxa (1843-1918). From 1888 to 1895, he studied at the Vienna Academy with Johann Mathias von Trenkwald (1824-1897).
In the 1890s, he traveled to Holland and Northwestern Germany. Duxa was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and a member of the artist association ‘Alte Welt’ [Old World]. In 1912, he received the Prize of the Vienna Artists' Association, Dumba.
