Jerome Henry Rothstein

Jerome Henry Rothstein was born in the Bronx but lived most of his life lived in Westchester. He is one of the artists selected for the 1930s WPA Federal Art Project. At age 16, he worked on the WPA poster division, designing posters for tourism and culture, many owned by the Library of Congress. During WWII he flew 30 missions with the 8th Air Force and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the war he resumed his career as an art director. He operated his art studio in New York from 1953 to 1983 when he retired to paint full time. His painting has been described as playful and colorful, expressing the joy in life. He had solo shows in New York, Boston and Miami.
