Ignacy Gierdziejewski was a Polish draftsman and painter. He was associated with the Warsaw Bohemia and the circle of artist, Marcin Olszynski. He created historical scenes, idealized religious paintings, and allegorical paintings. He drew his fantastic and often horror-filled motifs from folk tales and Polish Romantic poetry, and was clearly influenced by Nazarene painting and the Düsseldorf school.
