An Austrian etcher and painter, Fritz Pontini studied painting techniques, under Rumpler, and etching, under William Unger. He established a strong reputation in both Austria and Germany for his figure studies, animal depictions and landscapes. The Viennese publisher, "Vervielfaltigende Kunst", commissioned Fritz Pontini for at least three original etchings during the first decade of the twentieth century.
The Museum of Modern Art, Prague, lists several of Fritz Pontini's paintings in its permanent collection. A large selection of his original etchings (including an impression of "Landscape Scene") is located at the Albertina Museum, Vienna.
