Johannes “Jo” Piene was a Norwegian portrait painter.

He studied at the Royal Frederik's University (1892-93), worked at the National School of Arts and Crafts (1894) and the academies in Antwerp (1895), Berlin (1896), Paris (1897), as well as a study trip to Europe (1903). At home he was a teacher at Den kvindelige industriskole in Christiania, (Statens lærerhøgskole i forming, Oslo) (1901-46), was head teacher at Oslo Technical School, and in the administration at Oslo Middle School. Several of his works of art are on display in Oslo City Museum, and he designed the altarpiece in Nydalen Chapel. He was the father of the mathematician Kay Waldemar Kielland Piene.
