Lambertus Hardenberg was a Dutch painter, draftsman, lithographer, etcher, and watercolorist.

He was educated from 1839 to 1843 at the Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague, where he was a student of Bartholomeus Johannes van Hove and Jan Hendrik Weissenbruch .

In the early 19th century, more and more artists settled in rural The Hague. Several attempts were made to set up an association of artists, such as the Teekencollegie dedicated to Art and Friendship in 1845. Friday afternoons were to draw models in Lambertus Hardenberg's studio and afterwards a party was celebrated. In January 1847, Hardenberg, Roelofs, Van Hove and the Weissenbruchs decided to set up a Painting Society to draw from models, promote the interests of the visual arts and the members, and hold art appreciations. Hardenberg was also co-founder of the Haagsche Ets club and teacher of Maria Elisabeth Hardenberg

Hardenberg's subjects were landscapes, figure studies, river landscapes, still lifes, cityscapes and topography.
