August Bootz was a German painter and draftsman. He was primarily a portrait painter and also created large-format portraits commissioned by the Baden court. His subject area also included religious paintings such as the three altarpieces created in 1838 for the church in Plittersdorf and the paintings created between 1848 and 1849 for the church in Renchen.

Bootz worked from 1835 to 1850 as a drawing teacher at the Rastatt grammar school. He was also active as a restorer and restored the Wendelinus depiction in the church of Weisenbach.
