Portrait and genre painter. Son of a master tailor. Studied from 1815 at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts. 1826-47 Weidner was often represented at the academic exhibitions in Vienna and in 1836 at the academic exhibition in Berlin. In 1841 his works were presented in the 'Salon des gymnast. Circus der Mme. de Bach' in the Vienna Prater. Weidner took part in the exhibitions of the Austrian Art Association from 1857 to 1868. The artist's older sister, the opera singer Katharina Weidner (1792-1850), was the first wife F. G. Waldmullers.
