Born in the UK about 1865, Thomas Attwood studied at the Birmingham School of Art before following his father to New Zealand in 1882. He exhibited with the Canterbury Society of Arts from 1885, with the Auckland Society of Arts from 1886-87, and at the Centennial Exhibition in Melbourne in 1888-89.
