Originating from Kolberg, Otto Lingner studied during 1877 and 1881 at the academy in Berlin. Afterwards he worked in Bremen and Hamburg for the painter Arthur Fitger. In 1887 he moved to Berlin again. In addition to the fields of portrait and genre painting Lingner also dealed with historical scenes and religious motifs
