Edoardo Gelli was an Italian painter of genre and portraits. He was born in Savone on 5 September 1852. He attended the Academy des Beaux-Arts de Saint-Luc and the Ciseri in Florence and made his debut in 1873. In 1886 he painted a portrait of the Emperor of Austria. He became the president of the Artist’s Circle in Florence. Gelli was an artist of great talent and is known for his vibrant palette and excellent brushwork.
