Friedrich Treml, also Johann Friedrich Treml was an Austrian genre painter and watercolorist .

Treml was the son of the theater painter Friedrich Treml. After briefly studying at the Vienna Polytechnic, he turned to training at the Vienna Academy. There he was particularly encouraged by Peter Fendi. In 1843 Treml married the niece and adopted daughter of Peter Fendis. Treml painted genre scenes, preferably from military life. From 1849 he worked almost exclusively for the Viennese court. His paintings were often lithographed, including by Franz Xaver Sandmann, K. Lanzedelly and Johann Stadler, which made the works very popular. In the choice of subject and style, Treml was strongly influenced by Carl Schindler .

The Tremlweg in Vienna- Siebenhirten was named after him in 1959.
