Painter and etcher, active in Leiden. Son of Johannes Janson and brother of Pieter Janson. Born in Leiden, died in The Hague. Firstly cavalry officer; then turned to art; 1813 returned to army as riding master; 1815 retired. Etchings mainly portraits and landscapes; also aquatint.
