Karl Hauptmann was a German painter born in Freiburg in 1880 as the son of a carpenter. From 1906 he worked in Freiburg as a freelance artist. His most important works are winter landscapes of the Black Forest. Hauptmann was artistically a loner and joined no artist-Vorr.
