Heinrich Karl Henry Jaeckel was active in Berlin from 1842-1867. Jaeckel worked as a landscape painter in Berlin and was a member of the German association of artists. In 1853 he undertook a study trip to Naples and Rome, which was followed by another stay in Rome in the autumn of 1857.
In Italy the artist found inspiration for many of his paintings. His preferred subjects were landscapes of Italy or the Alps, which he often animated with atmospheric lighting and finely executed figural scenes.
