Wilhelm Rögge der Jüngere

Wilhelm Roegge was a German illustrator and painter.

Wilhelm was the son of the Bavarian history painter Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm Roegge. He studied at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich under Wilhelm Lindenschmit and Karl Raupp from 1886. He later became a member of the Munich Artists' Cooperative. After that he worked mainly as an illustrator.

Wilhelm Roegge created paintings in the traditional style of Carl Spitzweg.

He also drew illustrations for numerous books and magazines, such as Kürschners Bücherschatz and J. P. Bachem Verlag. Also for Mark Twain's “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” (1900), Jules Verne's “Journey around the Earth in 80 Days” (1900), “Five Weeks in the Realm of Air” (1903), Josephine Sieber's “The Steinbergs” (1913) and many more.
