Wilhelm Gail was a German painter.
He was born in Munich on March 7, 1804. Gail travelled through Spain between 1832 and 1833, a trip that was the setting of the work Erinnerungen aus Spanien (1837) —in Castilian "Memories of Spain" -, a book of his experiences in the country accompanied by a series of lithographic plates of landscapes and Spanish types. He had previously published a work of a similar nature entitled Erinnerung an Florenz, Rom und Neapel (1827), from his time in Italy. He died in his hometown on February 26, 1890.
