Walther Caspari was born in 1869. He was a painter, graphic artist, and illustrator.
He began his training as a businessman. From 1891 to 1893, he studied at the School of Applied Arts Leipzig. From 1893 to 1896, he studied at the art school in Weimar. In 1897, he studied at the Academy of Art, Munich with Paul Hoecker.
Caspari has illustrated many children's books, often in cooperation with his sister Gertrud Caspari. He was a regular contributor to the satirical magazines Simplicissimus, Fliegende Blätter and Der Jugend.
