Vincenzo Giovannini was born in 1817 in Todi in Umbria. He moved to Rome in his younger years, where he trained as a painter at the Accademia de San Michele. Giovannini later became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke. He specialized in city views and worked for numerous art dealers, who mainly commissioned him to paint Rome's ancient monuments. The Forum Romanum was among the most popular vedutas, and he painted it from various angles and in numerous formats. Vincenzo Giovannini passed away in 1903 in Rome.
