Vicente Garcia de Paredes was born in Spain in 1845. He was a painter of figures and portraits, as well as historical, genre, and urban scenes. While he was born in Spain, he lived and worked in the Parisian suburb of Arcueil.
In his lifetime, De Paredes exhibited quite successfully at the various important art venues in Paris. He was awarded an honorable mention at the Paris World's Fair in 1900. His historical scenes were so popular that they were often made into color engravings.
