Rudolf Weisse was born in Usti (Aussig), Bohemia, a town on the banks of the Elbe. He studied at the Viennese Akademie der Bildenden Künste. He exhibited at the Salon in Paris between 1889 and 1927 and also showed paintings in Vienna, London, Bordeaux and Toulon. Weisse specialized in portraits and Orientalist views, chiefly street scenes in Cairo, which he must have visited.
